# Team Owner vs. Group Admin vs. Team Member

## Understanding the roles and permissions in Lara's Team plan

In **Lara’s Team Plan**, there are three roles: **Team Owners**, **Group Admins**, and **Team Members**. The role determines what a member can do, while the group determines which part of the Team the member belongs to. A member belongs to one group at most. The Team Owner can also be a Group Admin.

**Team Owner permissions**

The Team Owner has full control over the Team, all groups, and all members. The Team Owner can:

- Invite team members to any group and remove members from the Team.
- Add and remove seats.
- Manage billing, payment methods, and the subscription.
- Manage team preferences, including enforcing Incognito Mode and disabling specific translation styles.
- Create, rename, and delete groups, and move members between groups.
- Assign and remove the Group Admin role.
- View usage reporting for the whole Team, for each group, and for each member.
- Manage translation memories and glossaries shared across groups or with the whole Team.
- Manage integrations and API credentials.

**Group Admin permissions**

A Group Admin manages one specific group on behalf of the Team Owner. This is usually a Team Member, but the Team Owner can also be a Group Admin. The Team Owner keeps control of the entire Team account, while the Group Admin role gives permissions only within one group. A Group Admin can:

- Invite new members to their own group.
- Remove members of their group from the group. The members stay in the Team without a group. A Group Admin cannot remove other Group Admins.
- View usage reporting for their own group, including usage by member and by service.
- Share translation memories and glossaries they own with all members of their group or with selected members, and change the sharing of group resources in their group.
- Do everything a Team Member can do.

**A Group Admin cannot:**

- Manage billing, payment methods, the subscription, or team preferences.
- Create, rename, or delete groups, or move members between groups.
- Assign or remove the Group Admin role.
- Remove members from the Team.
- View reporting or manage resources of other groups, or Team-level reporting.
- Share resources with other groups or with the whole Team.
- Manage integrations or API credentials.

*If the Team Owner is also a Group Admin, they keep all Team Owner permissions.*

**Team Member permissions**

Team Members have access to Lara’s translation features but cannot manage team settings. They can:

- Use Lara’s translation tools based on the preferences set by the Team Owner.
- Upload translation memories and glossaries, and rename, export, or delete the ones they own.
- View their own usage and quota consumption.
- Request support for individual issues, but cannot modify team settings.

Team Members cannot share the resources they own with other members.

**Good to know**

- A group can have no Group Admin, one, or several. If a group has no Group Admin, the Team Owner manages it.
- A Group Admin must belong to the group they manage.
- The Team Owner can also be assigned as Group Admin of a group.
- If the Team Owner moves a Group Admin to a different group, or deletes the group, the person loses the Group Admin role.

These roles and permissions apply exclusively to the Team Plan in Lara.
